The Izmailovo hotel complex was built as part of the preparation and holding of the 1980 Olympic Games, which were held in Moscow.

The Izmailovo Hotel was conceived as one of the largest hotel complexes in Moscow, capable of hosting a large number of guests and athletes who came to the Olympic Games. The construction of the complex began in 1979 and was completed in 1980, in the shortest possible time to be in time for the start of the games.
